Hair Growth {I think it's working}

Forever and a day ago I used to have long lovely dirty blonde hair.
My self portrait taken in 2011 for school

And an image from 2011 from a Flyer's hockey game
So, not insanely long, but long for me. My dirty blonde hair started to fade however and a friend of mine suggested a high light. We did this a few times and sadly, both of us did not know the harsh consequences of leaving bleach in your hair for a long period of time... After 3 sessions of this every two months, my hair started going crazy, it felt like straw and looked like the end of a broom stick. It was awful!!! I carried conditioner around with me to put in my hair for when it started to dry out... Needless to say, I had to chop it off, it was the worst day ever!!
The cut went just under my ears.... I was not happy at all about this, but I had to save my hair, it was dying.

This photo was taken three days after the funeral of my hair, my best friend Brittany came down from Philly and we had a girls night out to mourn the hair death :( I cut if off, August of 2011.

Now, I have the slowest growing hair of all time! I was two years old before I had a full head of hair, my mother had to put me in pink clothes so people would know I was a little girl with my lack of hair. With my wedding coming up, I've been insane trying everything I can to make my hair grow! I've stopped using heat on my hair, (no hair dryers, straighteners, curlers) and I've stopped washing my hair everyday. Washing your hair everyday prevents the natural oils your hair produces in order to keep your hair healthy and growing. I've also gone to the extremes of doing at home hair mask remedies. My favorite one is Aloe Vera cream, olive oil and coconut oil.
The Aloe Vera is for your scalp, massaging this cream into your scalp opens up your pores and allows your hair to breathe and grow. Not only that, but my hair stays silky and shiny longer! It also does not get overly greasy as fast when I don't wash my hair everyday. The olive oil and coconut oil I place at the ends of my hair. I heat them up together in a jar and dip my hair in the bowl until my ends are covered. Then I leave this mask on for about an hour, wash it out and go about my life.
Aloe on the scalp to open up the pores to allow your hair to breathe. It also keeps your hair silky for days!

Scoop of coconut oil and some olive oil in a bowl. I heat it up for about 45 seconds then dip the ends of my hair in the mixture.

Then I tie my hair into a bun to keep the oil at the ends of my hair so it doesn't drip. Leave this in for about an hour then wash it out and shampoo as normal.

Other tips:
1. Don't wash your hair everyday. This stops the natural oils your hair produces that help with hair growth and health. This can be done by training your hair. Go a day without washing it, then two days, then three, ect. When your hair gets oily, use baby powder(for lighter hair colors) or coco powder (for darker hair colors) to soak up the oil. Just sprinkle the powder and rub it into your scalp.

2. Avoid using heat on your hair. If you need to curl or straighten, use heat protection spray or cream on your hair.

3. Biotin is a great way to help make your hair grow, it's easily found at any drug store.

4. Regular trims, help keep your hair healthy and free of split ends which stump hair growth.

5. Shampoo only the top of your head, the shampoo with run down your hair as you rinse it out in the water to wash the rest, but it is not healthy for you hair to all be scrummed by shampoo. Shampoo is not the best for the older ends of your hair. the new hair at your scalp is what needs to be cleaned.

Just some hair thoughts. :)
